About Two-Factor Authentication

Michigan Medicine requires that all account users use a two-factor authentication system called Duo. Two-factor authentication is a second layer of security.

More information about two-factor authentication and installing Duo can be found in the Access and Setup Guide on the INHALE Support page.

Obtaining a U-M User Account

Email mdc-accounts@med.umich.edu to request access to the INHALE Dashboards. When you receive your username and password, follow the setup steps found in the Access and Setup Guide.

Level-1 Password

Your Level-1 password (or University of Michigan password) is used to access general University of Michigan resources.

The University of Michigan recommends you change your passwords at least once a year.

To change, reset, or resolve issues with using a Level-1 password:

  1. Contact the U-M ITS Service Center.
  2. Request help for one of the following options: resetting your forgotten Level-1 password, changing your Level-1 password, or resolving issues with logging in with your Level-1 password.
  3. Inform them that you are a user of Michigan Data Collaborative's User Portal. You are not a U-M employee; however, you have a sponsored account with a U-M ID and password.

Duo Two-Factor Authentication

To get help installing Duo or using two-factor authentication:

  1. If possible, locate your U-M ID, U-M username, and Level-1 password.
  2. Contact the U-M ITS Service Center.
  3. Request help for installing or using Duo two-factor authentication.
  4. Inform them that you are a user of Michigan Data Collaborative's User Portal. You are not a U-M employee; however, you have a sponsored account with a U-M ID and password.
